A white pelted lioness's eyes flickered open, followed by a lazy yawn. She streched quickly, leaping up to a higher level of the jungle canopy with a grin. She was met by the beautiful sight of twinkling stars set in a magnificent dark blue sky. There was a new moon, leaving the stras as the only illumination of the lands. She purred, igniting the stralight withing her to turn her tail into a paintbrush. She cackled marvelously, childish glee upon her beautiful face. She waved her tail about in long, smooth strokes, making a giant star. It floated up slightly, staying illuminated for a few moments before fading away. The show was about to begin!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, in the Great Pride's lands, there were quite a few lions and lionesses rising from their slumber, intent upon reaching the jungle as fast as possible. Even the king, Aakesh, rose for the brilliant light show. His nuzzled his mate gently, hoping she'd be in a fit mood to watch.
Vissna, too was aroused. He found his way to the blue form of Rasalin, nudging her awake. "Come on, Rasalin! The star painter!" he whispered, careful not to wake the cubs and those who had no intention of watching the display.
Rasalin gave a small yawn as she flicked open her eyes to see Vissna nudging her awake.
“What? What is it?” she said sleepily, as she stood, then as she heard others whispering about the star painter, she instantly remember and started trotting out of the den to get to the jungle, instantly forgetting being sleep. The paintings in the sky were the most glorious things, and she’d hate to miss it. She laughed and nudged Vissna, as she broke out into a medium run.
“Come on!” she called back, knowing they were now too far for the cubs to wake, and she rushed on, nearing the jungle happily.
~*~*~*~*~
In the den, Cleo had been given the visions she’d been waiting for in her sleep, though once she got them she instantly regretted asking for them in the beginning. It wasn’t very clear though. Only images, flashing quickly through her mind…
There was flashes of lightning and rain pouring down. Then there was an image of the puddle of water, turned red with what Cleo had to assume was blood. The next was of large amounts of lions, many familiar to her, fighting an ripping at each other. Though it was the next that gave her the most fear: the image of a crazed Nasiche, with a cruel, wicked grin on her maw, as if she’d committed something truly horrid, but had loved it. Then it was followed by a sick, ill looking cub, with horror clear on it’s face.
With a jolt Cleo awoke, her breath shaky, though quick. Fear now rose even more in the pit of her stomach, and she looked around with a fear that her dreams had come to life, as she saw many lions rushing from the dens. She jumped to her feet, and then noticed Aakesh beside her, and she buried her face in his mane.
“I saw… It must be.. what that lion.. from early… was talking about..” she whispered, fear still making her muscles tense, as if all those things she saw were just outside the mouth of the den.|| I’m actually very proud of this one ||
Aakesh, looked at her, concerned. "What did you see?" If that curse was going to cause his pride any harm...
Vissna raced after her, breaking out in front of her and giving her a teasing grin. "Catch me if you can!"
((Eww...Entirely craplola. I barely made the limit!))
”it was raining… Then there was blood in the puddles… “ Cleo said, closing her eyes to try and remember the horrid images, then she opened her eyes and looked up into Aakesh’s “There’s going to be a fight, Aakesh. A great, gruesome battle between our pride and Nasiche’s...” she said, eyes full of horror and she frowned.
She tried to relax, by walked out of the den, though her eyes kept flicking from one side to the other, making sure the fight she saw wouldn’t be today. Though it couldn’t, it clear night, and the image had shown it raining.. She sighed, walking out onto the ledge of the great pride rock, and looking out towards the lands of the banished.
“I don’t know when, and I don’t know where… All I know is that it was raining…” she said, her eyes staring off into the distant cursed lands. If this fight was to come, how soon could they be ready?
"The winds have brought the scents of rain for awhile now...it will rain for days, how will we know?" His brow wrinkled with worry. He quickly gave up, however, and gave a sigh. "Come now, love. Lets not worry you too much with cubs on the way. Nabhasi is putting on a show tonight. Do you remember when we first saw her paint?" He nuzzled her affectionatley, running ahead playfully. "Come, lets have a night for us! To the jungle!" His deep, rich voice rumbled happily, quite the comforting sound. He hoped that his ease about the matter might calm her...her sights might be detrimental to their cubs.
Cleo smiled softly, though worry still lingered in her brain. Though at least for tonight, she would be restful, for her cubs would soon arrive any time now, and for then, she’d try to remain happy.
“Yes, let’s go watch her work.” She said, smiling, as she made her way down the rock, to the ground below, as they headed towards the jungle. “And how could I forget our first time watching the star painter together. Though you had much less of a mane back then.” Cleo said with a laugh, enjoying the comfort of happier times for the moment.
Aakesh let out a rich, deep laugh at that. "Oh, ho! I was rather scraggly-maned then, eh! And how I tried to charm you...it makes me glad most of our pride wasn't around to see that!" He nuzzled her once more, before half running, half gliding, into the dark beauty of the jungle.
Once inside the wonderous treasure of a land, lions and lionesses were working their way up every tree, to the canopy to watch the star painter! Even through the branches, the glow could be seen illumintating different parts of the leafy terrain each time.
Cleo laughed, and leaped onto a near tree, already beginning to climb up. Memories of that night masked the fighting images, and for a moment, she’d forgotten.
~*~*~*~*~
Rasalin laugh as ran after Vissna, making their way into the jungle. As they neared to spot where the star painter was painting the sky above, she jumped onto a near tree and started to climb her way upwards towards the lights. Even though she could have easily flown up herself, she’d rather climb, as to stay longer with Vissna. She smiled as she reached to canopy, and she sat down next the Vissna.
It was romantic, and she could help but look at Vissna every now and then when he didn’t know. Did he know how about the feelings she was slowly learning she had for him? Did she really have these feelings for him?
|| Awwww how romantic lol ||
((Yush, very. )) Aakesh climbed as well, but used his wings to aid him. When they emerged, the view was amazing. Better than he remembered. Vissna didn't even realise he was doing so and entwined his tail with her. Doing so, his mother's pendat got got on Rasalin's tail. He glanced over, finally noticing. "Oh...sorry." He gave her a shy smile, trying to unhook his pendant. Nabhasi was aglow with joy, painting at her best. She painted a cupid and strung his bow, shooting heart-tipped arrows towards couples in the crowd with the flick of her tail. They broke into a beautiful sparks, whose light faded away as they descended. Aakesh licked Cleo on the cheek as they got theirs, whereas Vissna jumped in surprise, having been wrapped up in untangling the cord.
Rasalin smiled, blushing as he went to try and untangle the pendant that had tangles around her own tail, and she too tried to help. It was as if everyone was trying to bring them together. Or did she just think that? Was it really just a coincidences? She blushed even harder as the cupid’s arrow burst over them, but laughed as it made Vissna jump. As he got the pendant untangled, she laughed and licked his cheek, then dove back down and onto the tree once more, as she climbed down. The canopies we now so full that other lions and their lionesses were grouped in couples below, watching from the trees, or sitting in opening, where they could see through to the sky.
Rasalin smiled at the groups, and walked over to an empty spot in a clearing, with a wonderful opening onto the sky. Quite a few other couples were sitting there as well, so she found an empty spot and sat down, watching the sky above with a smile.
This caught Vissna by surprise, but the mood of the night made him quickly subside into laughter. He followed her down, taking a seat beside her. His eyes stayed on the light show as he spoke, "Such a perfect night, isn't it?" His voice was a whisper so as to not disturb the other watchers. "The Star Painter lives up to her reputation..." He glanced at her, a grin on his face. He returned her lick and ran playfully into the shadows of the canopys, headed to a place he had heard about from a monkey. He had had to give up and earing for the information, though he easily crafted himself another. The monkey had better not've lied...
Rasalin smiled and laughed, as she jumped up and ran after Vissna. She looked around when she had reach him, but she couldn’t find anything familiar, as that kept walking forward.
“Where are we going?” she asked, smiling still, as she looked around the jungle.
She hadn’t gotten the chance to explore it yet, at least not the chance to explore it all. She’d heard about wondrous places with waterfalls and other such fantastic sites. But she’d yet to find any of them.|| Horrid post, I’m sorry lol ||
((Tis okies. Those two are just fillers...building up to this:))
Vissna chuckled, racing around a corner. "You'll see! Just keep up!" he called through the dark. Suddenly, the earth beneath his feet dissappeared and he tumbled down a short cliff. It was where he was headed, but it was difficult to see the drop in the almost lightless night. He fell into a lower canopy of trees, soft enough for comfort but strong enough to hold them. He bounced slightly on impact, sending fireflies dancing through the night. He grinned as they twirled around him, towards the opening in the upper canopy above him. The stars twinkled beautifully down, and he rolled on his back to look at them. It was perfect- the monkey hadn't lied. There was no sound but the bugs and the faint trickle of water from a small waterfall nearby.
"Rasalin! Watch the drop!" He called, laughter in his voice. He didn't want to frighten her too badly, but the fall made it all the more fun!
She laughed and ran after him, though as he disappeared suddenly, she frozen.
“Vissna?” she said quietly, scared that something bad at suddenly happened, then when she walked forwards slightly she fell down the small cliff, and collapsed into Vissna. “That drop?” she asked with a laugh, as she looked up to see the whole area covered with fireflies all around, she turned to lay on her back beside Vissna, the whole area looking as romantic as she ever seen anything. And the sky was still dimly lit from the star painter’s show, though you could barely see it.
“Wow.” She said, looking around. It was astonishing.|| still rather bad.. sry ||
"It's great, right? There's the stars and the fireflies...and the company..." He looked over at her, smiling slightly. "I think there's a waterfall nearby too...but the view's a little hard to let go of..." He was still facing her, instead of the sky, as if taking in every detail of the night as best he could. It would be a memory he couldn't easily be rid of.
((bagh...I guess its done...
*CHEEZY ALERT*))
